So we're back, Chunky Brother is now happening. We've kept it simple, clarified the Brand, and who it's aimed at. We have direction and a vision for the future. Chunky Brother is for the Everyday Man, and if you fit that category then welcome to a community. We have a vision of growing organically beyond the confines of a lifestyle brand and see where this takes us.

As a Chunky Brother, you may feel you could shed a little 'central obesity', (as my Doctor once called my belly); or your absolutely just fine and comfortable with who you are which is fantastic. Personally as I write this, my wetsuit is drying on the line post surf, and I make no apologies when I say, "I do look like an egg cup in a wetsuit". But who cares, take a look around. On that note, you should also see me in Lycra; in fact take a look at most people in Lycra, or a wetsuit or gym gear; no one is perfect, and it's time we all embraced what, and who we are. If you go to the gym, you might be ripped to the core, full of muscle, and yes that makes you a Chunky Brother, a fisherman, snowboarder, skater, surfer, bike rider (engine or not),  and so on. Essentially, you define whether you're a Chunky Brother, and if you are, then this brand/community is for you. Look up 'Chunky' in the dictionary and see what you think, add the word Brother and it becomes clear...Welcome to the family my Chunky Brother.

Enter the iconic 'Snap Back Cap',  our first product. Why? because one size fits all. Who doesn't love a trucker cap? Who doesn't like a little camouflage in their life, and it never seems to be out of sorts. I suppose this whole brand was born out of a more action sports lifestyle, but we would be so wrong to simply focus our attentions on the rip and shred market place.

Here's what one of our Brothers says about the hats, all the way from New Zealand, the outdoor capital of the world..

"Camo Works for fishing, hunting, and gets the red neck look just right, I like wearing those hats for snowboarding when the sun's out. I get a new one every year! Usually go for a 'Simms' fishing one, which are real nice. But would rather wear one of yours."

The Snap Back was born out of product promotions in the US with iconic brands like John Deer, alongside that classic green,  seen on many a farmers head, given away to buyers of farming machinery. Arguably is was the farmers, the truck drivers and mechanics alike made these hats a mainstream promotional tool.  Growing up watching films like 'Convoy' and 'Smokey and the Bandit', or the famous BMX chase scene in E.T, where one kid had a huge red Trucker Cap, the Motocross Stars, Formula One Drivers, Rally racers,  all embrace the Snap Back hat to promote their sponsors (contractually I agree), but as soon as they finish the race, on goes the cap.
Beer companies gave these hats away to promote their products, American Baseball/Football Teams probably base there players salaries on the sales of the merchanise, and the 'snap back' hat, is arguably up there as a top seller. These hats are worn by the Everyday Man, (and now woman) and that's why we chose these as our first product.

Embroidered in Brighton here in the UK, the quality is exceptional, they slow the machine down to ensure all the details are clear and stitched accurately. We wanted the logo to be strong enough, clear enough, and bold enough to proudly display who your are. If, (like my blood brother) your concerned that the Clenched Fist represents the 60's Political 'Black Panther' Party, then you'd be very wrong, but the Fist will always be a nod to standing up for a belief. Taking away any political meaning, because that's not what we are about, the fist does represent a sense of pride and anti discrimination. The fist is, and always will be a symbol for empowerment and self belief, a symbol of standing up for what you believe. Say it Loud...I'm Chunky and Proud.

As for the choice of font, clearly a throwback to the late 1997 release of Grand Theft Auto. Again, an iconic game where the player chooses their own progression in a world they find themselves. Having their own motivation, this was a game that allows the player to achieve a sense of achievement and triumph,  and becoming the person they want to be, albeit it fighting through the criminal underworld, but in this case representing, and being a strong character is vital to this role.

Our Chunky Brother logo represents a combination of some fantastic elements, and these elements represent self empowerment. Thanks for all your support and please share and pass the word. There are a lot of Brothers out there who might be lacking a little belief, a little low esteem, and think that everyone is looking at them...well there not and if they are, that's there business. If you feel like buying a hat that's fantastic, but if you just want to check back for the blog then we have some exciting things happening.  Be proud of who you are, and go smash what ever the activity it is you do best...

We'd love your feedback and your thoughts and right now hats are available by following this link below:
